Kaleidospace: seeding hope and creating healing spaces

Kaleidospace, a 2024 Street Work participant, is a Queens-based collective focused on the intersection of art, activism, and community. Its members are Sunny Roberts, Manuela Agudelo, Kacia Flórez, Kelly Arango, Mark Saldana. They create platforms for BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ creatives and spaces for education and cathartic healing.

As part of Street Works, Kaleidospace is developing a performance reflecting on a core belief: climate change reversal's onus is not solely on the individual. Instead, governments and multinational corporations are responsible for the systems that allow climate change and the pollution of our soil, air, and waterways to continue to be a major threat to the lives of the working class.

In dance performances and workshops, Kaleidospace will explore patterns of corporate imperialism with audiences and the role of collective community-based action in creating alternative spaces for healing and action. Participants will add to the performance costumes made from collected materials and build and play percussion instruments made from recycled materials during the performance.
