What if justice were normal? What and who will it take to imagine new habits, processes, and structures that default to loving care, anti-bias, pro-Earth, and solidarity?

Across the globe, people —  activists & entrepreneurs, impact investors & artists — are asking these questions and practicing change in their organizations, communities, and homes. To write their stories into the record, MJN co-founder, Monique Aiken, takes us on their journeys to build a future where justice is normal.

SEASON 1

  • "I have a theory that, for people of color or others who have been cut out of the master narrative, just telling your personal survival tale, your story, is civic engagement. It is a kind of political performance and is really crucial in that storytelling is how the writers connect with people and change. It's how we collect and add to and complicate the master narrative."

    -Faith Adiele

  • “Narrative is the way we tell stories of real human beings and their courageous efforts to make change in the face of systems that hold them back. Narrative change includes moving people to act on their beliefs.”

    ~ Rinku Sen, Narrative Initiative

WHY

Narratives are the underlying beliefs, meanings, and truths our words and stories carry. They shape — and are shaped by — culture, society and reality. They affect how we think, act, and design our collective future, spreading the ideas driving our actions. Indeed, our beliefs shape our practices, knowingly or unknowingly.

But whose voices are behind the ideas that drive us? And whose ideas do we need now to usher in the “justice century” that Dianne Dillon-Ridley has called for?

In this podcast we're amplifying futurists who can guide us toward normalizing justice through their work, thought leadership, and lifeways.

VISION

  • Gather

To write justice into the record, MJN believes we need to document who is bending the arc of the universe and how. We are curating experts from different sectors and ways of thinking in one place to help experts, and listeners, connect.

  • Amplify

We hope to amplify, raise awareness and bring to the mainstream the voices of leaders working to make justice normal and the new models of thinking and doing.

  • Advance

How can we evolve our thinking, practices, and systems to be the change we hope to see? By spending time understanding the stories and mental models of these leaders, MJN is ready to evolve our systems and programs and help others see the patterns between and among these game changing ideas.
