PHILOSOPHIES

We believe that lasting change requires shifting dynamics of systems that work against values, even as dollars are deployed for good causes. Our values — justice, loving care, and solidarity — must become system norms.

This means developing and naming new defaults so they can be consistently applied. By starting from different “off positions” that transcend momentary opinions, we can see how broader systems demand us to compromise values. In this way, injustices — and acts of resistance — are visibilized.

Living by new philosophies is not about demanding 100% alignment all the time; we know we’ll fall short of our dreams.

For example, as a new organization, most of our collective members donate thousands of hours out of love, and our values haven’t been fully defined yet. We're releasing our philosophies as we put them into practice and are very grateful for your feedback (scroll to the bottom)!

There’s a lot to do. But we think the wisest big change starts out small and lived experience makes all the difference. We hope to learn through practice what it takes to build a system differently and hope that our lessons can seed broader systems change.

We appreciate your feedback!!
