Nov 24, 2024: Queens Mutual Aid & Reflection
Veggie Nuggets, Kaleidospace, and Street Works/MJN met on Sunday, 11/24 @ 12pm ET on Zoom, to continue planning next steps on mutual aid network building.
Notes
Group conducted research on local mutual aid and community resource centers:
City Harvest
In-person, canned Food Drive: If the collection is less than 100lbs, you can drop it off at a nearby NYPD precinct, FDNY firehouse or Apple Bank. To find your closest drop-off location, or posters and tools to support a drive, please visit: www.cityharvest.org/dailynews.
Online Food Drive: Through partners at #GiveHealthy, supporters can build an online food drive page to share with their community, allowing participants to purchase fresh produce and non-perishable items to be delivered directly to the City Harvest warehouse.
South Queens Women's March: Toy Drive through 12/9
Each year, South Queens Women's March organizes a holiday toy drive to fill inequities in our community. Toys are offered to local families with children at our annual holiday pop-up food pantry as well as distributed to children residing at a domestic violence homeless shelter in South Queens. Donate whatever you can!
