Dec 11, 2024: Elmhurst Community Partnership Coat Drive Recap
In 2024, Queens mutual aid, hosted by Kaleidospace, Veggie Nuggets, and MJN/Street Works, supported Elmhurst Community Partnership’s larger efforts to collect/donate warm clothes. Thanks to community, the network gathered and distributed 47 pairs of socks, 10 pairs of women's tights, and 15 pairs of gloves in less than one week and in partnership with 3 local shops — learn more about them below.
At the event, lines for folks in need ran around the block. We're looking ahead to be there again and plan ahead next year. In 2025, the group is starting to reconvene to think about what it takes to foster a culture of justice led by local artists, learn from other local mutual aid networks over the year — including supporting their efforts — and support mental health & wellness.
