Remember Y(our) Connection / Tandaan Ang Ating Ugnayan (RYC/TAAU) is a public participatory art project that aims to cultivate relationship through dialogue and conversation about shared struggles and indigenous wisdom; hold our deep understanding of interconnection on multiple levels: within ourselves, with each other, and all-encompassing; and illuminate pathways for everyday people to work together toward a world where everyone has a chance to live well.

2024 Street Work Earth: what they did

For 2024 Street Work Earth, Cecilia leads a team comprised of Queens-based women and non-binary folx including RYC/TAAU "Let the Plants Hold You" team member Yon Mi Kim, a first-generation Korean-American visual artist and writer from Queens, NY; and Deva Estin, an Ashkenazi-Jewish 3rd grade teacher and mom.

RYC/TAAU reflects project founder and lead artist Cecilia Lim's personal process of recovering connection to indigeneity and intentionally naturalizing herself to the places where she is now. Queens, New York (Lenapehoking) has been her home for the past 22 years. Cecilia is able to engage the Queens communities in creative ways because of the relationships she has built with Queensfolx.

Like Make Justice Normal, I believe creative experiences can spark shifts in thought and action toward justice for the most marginalized of us. I’m thrilled for a chance to make a collaborative and collective offer to the people and place of Jackson Heights as part of 2024 Street Work Earth.
