Veggie Nuggets

Veggie Nuggets is a youth climate action group based in New York City. They have worked on multiple projects, including helping to stop the NRG Astoria power plant, creating a public garden for anyone in Queens’s diverse communities to enjoy, and completing a mural at 35th Ave and 69th St. in Jackson Heights, Queens.

Bios

Aadi Hasija is a 6th grader who lives in Jackson Heights and goes to NEST+M. He is a student equity leader in his school, a guitar player, and a competitive MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fighter. His favorite part of being in the Veggie Nuggets is the creative aspect of cinematography.

Emily Herra is a sophomore who lives in Jackson Heights and goes to the Renaissance Charter School. She enjoys running, photography, and ceramics. Her favorite part of the Veggie Nuggets is helping manage the group’s social media platforms.

Anand Maru is a sophomore at the Baccalaureate School for Global Education who lives in Jackson Heights. He enjoys the great outdoors, running, and woodcarving. His favorite part of the Veggie Nuggets is seeing real effects of his efforts pay off.

Umed Maru is a 10th grader who lives in Jackson Heights and goes to school at the Baccalaureate School for Global Education in Astoria. In his free time, he enjoys running and reading. His favorite part of the Veggie Nuggets is interacting with and beautifying his community.

Sentayehu Seubert is a 10th grader who lives in East Elmhurst and goes to The Peddie School in NJ. She enjoys listening to music and hanging out with her friends. Her favorite part about the Veggie Nuggets is meeting new people and interacting with her community.

Lillian Parrella is a 9th grader who lives in Jackson Heights and goes to Townsend Harris. Her hobbies are baking, dancing, listening to music, and gardening. Her favorite part about The Veggie Nuggets is being able to make an impact on the world with her friends.

Nikolas Kenworthey is a 10th grader who lives in Astoria and goes to the High School for Math, Science, and Engineering. His hobbies outside of the Veggie Nuggets are track, music, games, and hanging out with friends. His favorite part about the Veggie Nuggets is making a difference in his community.

Abderrahmane Labdi is an 11th grader who lives in Astoria and goes to The Renaissance Charter School. His hobbies range from making YouTube videos to playing sports. His favorite part about the Veggie Nuggets is being able to participate with some of his closest friends on impactful projects such as the mural and PSA.

Jomi Legarda is a 13 year old from Jackson Heights, Queens and goes to school at MS104 Simon Baruch in Manhattan and is in 8th grade. In his free time, he likes to play basketball and volleyball. His favorite part of the Veggie Nuggets is art and outreach.
