Small NPOs hit by 2020 pandemic. BIPOC-led chronically underfunded

A 2021 Urban Institute study found that a greater share of small nonprofits experienced donation decreases in 2020, when compared to large nonprofits. 42% of organizations with budgets under $500,000 experienced decreased donations in 2020, compared with 29% of organizations with budgets of $500,000 or more.

From 2015-2019 a greater share of BIPOC-led organizations experienced declines in donations when compared with “non-Hispanic”-white-led organizations.
