“After Street Works Earth, I plan on taking 2 actions 1) A Know Your Rights campaign around chronic flooding 2) advocating for flood/heat-resilient reconstruction of the [34 Ave] Open Street/Plaza.”
“Art is an underutilized medium to shift public consciousness around climate change and climate action. Human beings understand the world through stories. Telling stories through art (storytelling is also an art form) can be an easy and accessible way for people to learn about and begin to grasp climate change and what they can do to be a part of the solution.
“As a community organizer, Street Works Earth helped me meet hyper-local community members who shared their stories and experiences living in Jackson Heights/Corona, two priority areas for me. I have already met with one community member from Street Works Earth twice and met with another Jackson Heights Community Organizer and artist once. These meetings helped me understand the hyperlocal community issues and needs.
