Rakiba Kibria

Rakiba Kibria (she/her) has over 14 years of experience mobilizing resources for the social sector. Most recently, she served as V.P. of Revenue at Common Future, leading fundraising for the organization that resulted in a net $25M growth. She is also a 2022-2023 Just Economy Institute Fellow, whose creative capital project sits at the intersection of Islamic Finance, community-wealth building, and justice.

Rakiba has deep experience working with philanthropy and impact investing stakeholders to fundraise along the capital stack for social justice and community wealth-building initiatives.

She believes the philanthropic and impact investing sectors have the power and responsibility to serve as risk capital in remedying centuries of extraction, exploitation, and harm suffered by marginalized communities and our planet. Through trusted relationships in the social sector, we can radically reimagine solutions to the problems plaguing our communities by taking risks, making bold bets, catalyzing change, and accelerating and incentivizing impact over profit. 

In her previous capacities, she's worked with several human services organizations in NYC, most notably Good Shepherd Services. At GSS, she led the individual giving and high-networth portfolio as part of the senior leadership team to execute a $50M+ growth capital campaign.

In her free time, she likes dreaming up how to create a world and raise her daughter outside of what the dominant imagination tells us we can and can't do. She is a first-gen Bangladeshi American with strong Queens and NYC pride. Her lived experiences and love for her people ground all things she does.

Rakiba holds a B.A. in International Development and Economics from American University and an M.S. in Nonprofit Management from Columbia University, where she was also an associate instructor for the program.
