Welcome to 8 artists joining September Street Works Earth!
We’re excited to announce the 8 artists commissioned to participate in MJN’s inaugural Street Works Earth on September 22, 2024!
Eight artists and collectives were invited to participate alongside MJN arts practitioners in creating site-specific works. Invited artists include All Street Gallery, Kaleidospace, Cecilia Lim, Nitin Mukul, Bayeté Ross Smith, Sabina Sethi Unni, The Veggie Nuggets, and Jing (Ellen) Xu.
Led by BIPOC artists centering BIPOC artists, Street Works Earth is building a bridge between art, culture and practical climate action. Artists and passersby will collaborate in telling personal and community stories of climate change and action in an outdoor gallery on the 34th Avenue open street in Jackson Heights, Queens, NY.
An open call for artists attracted over 100 artist submissions. The artists were selected via a participatory voting process guided by the program’s 4 core design principles and reason for existence.
