Urbanization & carbon emissions

Cities are responsible for close to 70-80% of global CO2 emissions associated with energy consumption. Per capita, urban emissions are often lower than national average in many countries. But urbanization is likely become a serious problem for overall emissions as populations overall grow. It's time for us to replace high-emitting infrastructure and transform the way we live. Many cities have ambitious reduction targets, but we've got a lot to do.
